Mike Rockel | Deputy Secretary

Environmental Economics, Montrose Environmental

Mike Rockel serves as Deputy Secretary for WRA’s Executive Committee. Mike is an environmental economics consultant for Montrose Environmental with over nine years of professional experience. The most exciting parts of his job are the complex projects that require strategic thinking, problem solving, and team collaboration to implement solutions. Example projects include an ecological impact assessment for proposed rail lines comparing rare, threatened, and endangered (RTE) species and critical habitat impacts, like wetlands and waterways, of a potential fuel spill between two separate proposed routes; and a public interest valuation of land and RTE species for conservation easement holdings.

He earned his MBA from Indiana University and undergraduate degrees in Finance and Economics from the University of Delaware. In his free time, he likes to play board games, video games, disc golf, and cook, especially with friends.
