AWARD CATEGORIES

Samuel S. Baxter Memorial Award

Given to the candidate who best exemplifies the mission of WRA as evidenced by the contribution to sound water management that was the keystone of Philadelphia’s former Water Commissioner.

Innovation & Collaboration – Business and Industry Award

Open to all who work and do business within the four-state Basin region, and who exemplify innovation and collaboration in advancing sound water management.

Innovation & Collaboration – Government Award 

Given to a governmental body or individual who has significantly contributed to sound water management through innovation and collaboration. 

Innovation & Collaboration – Research

Recognizes exemplary science that advances sustainability and resilience in water, climate change, and related topics.

Waterside Land Development, Conservation and Preservation

Recognizes exemplary local efforts to conserve or develop waterside areas, parks, nature preserves and other public spaces designed to promote resilience within the Delaware River Basin. 

WRA Achievement Award

For a member or member organization whose services have advanced the cause of sound water resources management.

Special Recognition Award

Awarded to an individual or organization providing special input or guidance to water management projects.

Dr. Ruth Patrick Excellence in Education Award

Awarded to an individual or organization who educates and informs people of key issues related to the water resources of the Delaware River Basin.

Lifetime Achievement Award

For an individual whose service through his/her lifetime and career has advanced the cause of sound water resources management.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Projects or individual contributions developed during the past five years.

  • Projects or concepts, the design, construction and/or implementation of which represent a substantial contribution to sound water resources management.

  • Projects or concepts, the design, construction and/or implementation of which promote: 

    • Water and land conservation
    • Stormwater management
    • Climate risk management, mitigation and emergency response
    • Drinking water quality and reliability
    • Advances in wastewater treatment or management
    • Water sector, and water related sectors, workforce development
    • Biodiversity
    • Sustainability, and/or resilience
  • The project or concept should represent an advancement of knowledge or the application of sound principles of good water management.
  • An individual whose services have contributed to sound water management. 

You may nominate yourself, your company, or another firm or individual.
