Updated Speaker Lineup Announced for WRA’s Upcoming AI Webinar

We are excited to share the updated lineup for our July 24th lunchtime webinar focused on AI and critical infrastructure. This event is your opportunity to engage directly with thought leaders who are actively shaping how artificial intelligence and machine learning are being used to strengthen resilience, reduce costs, and improve planning across water and power systems.

Meet the Speakers:

🔹 Sandeep Sathyamoorthy
Director, Water Innovation and Technology, Stantec
Sandeep will kick off the panel by defining key AI/ML concepts—such as supervised vs. unsupervised learning—and explain why these technologies are game-changers for water infrastructure. He’ll share how Stantec is building internal AI capacity and using machine learning for rainfall estimation and other early successes.

🔹 Hanbing Chen
Hydraulic Engineer, Veolia North America
Hanbing will spotlight Veolia’s innovative Voda initiative, using machine learning to transform pipe replacement from reactive guesswork into predictive planning. He’ll discuss how AI is reducing street disruptions, improving cost efficiency, and reshaping the culture of utility management.

🔹 Ayan Paul
Research Scientist, The Institute for Experiential AI, Northeastern University
Ayan will address how machine learning is being introduced into traditionally low-adoption areas like public infrastructure and logistics. He’ll explore climate risks, infrastructure interdependencies, and the vital role of domain expertise in translating research into real-world outcomes.

🎙 Moderator: Julia Sherwin
Former radio host and current PR and Media Strategist
Julia will guide an engaging, interactive discussion—and help bring audience questions into the conversation.

Why Attend?

This is more than a presentation—it’s a collaborative session exploring the intersection of AI, infrastructure, and resilience. Whether you’re a utility professional, researcher, policymaker, or tech innovator, you’ll gain insights into:

  • Real-world case studies of AI in action
  • Strategies to scale AI in under-resourced environments
  • How to build trust in predictive models
  • The future of workforce needs in utilities

Bring your questions—audience participation is highly encouraged!

Registration closes Wednesday.
