George serves as President of the Maritime Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay, the 150-year continuously active, nonprofit trade association serving as leading advocate, on behalf of its over 200 public and private members, for port and related maritime businesses in the tristate region. He is a third generation Merchant Marine Officer and a retired U.S. Navy Captain with extensive experience in ship, tug & barge operations transporting oil & gas, containerized, bulk, and vehicle cargoes globally. He has extensive maritime board & committee interactions to include working for the U.S. National Security Council’s sub-committee for Maritime Domain Awareness and the International Maritime Organization’s committee on the open sharing of commercial vessel information.
Bilingual and multicultural, George was born in Buenos Aires Argentina and then lived in Paris France for eleven years due his family’s extensive U.S. Diplomatic service.
George has a BS in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M, an MBA in Finance & International Trade from the University of St. Thomas, Houston Texas and Executive level diplomas in Joint Operations and National Strategy & Policy from the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.
He and his wife Teresa live in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania with the grand dogs.
