Water is more than a resource—it’s the foundation of our regional economy and the lifeblood for critical infrastructure. This dynamic forum, hosted by the Center for Clean Hydrogen at the University of Delaware’s STAR Campus, explores the essential practices, innovations, and partnerships that ensure responsible, sustainable use of water from the Delaware River Basin.

Join co-chairs Jessica Hartley (Vicinity Energy) and Virginia Eisenbrey (Artesian Water) to explore how water powers industries, enables vital services, and supports regional economic growth!

The Experts Shaping Our Water Future

From major utilities to cutting-edge labs driving innovation, our 2025 Value of Water Technical Event brings together the voices that matter most in today’s water landscape.

Leading the Critical Infrastructure Conversation When data centers and AI facilities are reshaping energy demands across our region, who better to guide us than Richard Coaxum from Constellation, sharing breakthrough water resource planning tools developed in partnership with Argonne National Lab, and Rachel Hanson from AECOM, whose expertise in sustainable infrastructure design is helping shape tomorrow’s facilities.

From Basin Management to Global Standards Kristen Kavanagh, Executive Director of the Delaware River Basin Commission, will address the fundamental challenge of our time: managing shared water resources through an era of weather extremes. Meanwhile, Larry Finnicum of Veolia North America brings decades of experience serving our region’s diverse water users, offering practical strategies for climate resilience and risk mitigation.

Where Water Meets Economic Impact Water sustains life, and it drives our economy. Martin Deetz from DuPont Water Solutions reveals how manufacturing relies on advanced treatment technologies, while Mike Contreras from 2SP Brewers and Herman Mihalich from Dad’s Hat Rye Whiskey showcase how craft industries depend on water quality for their signature products. Amanda Katzoff and Einar Peters from Kimberly-Clark demonstrate corporate-scale water stewardship that sets industry standards.

The Bigger Picture Troy Mix from the University of Delaware’s Biden School connects the dots with insights on maritime trade’s vital role in our regional economy—reminding us that water’s value extends far beyond our immediate view.

Innovation in Action This is not just talk. Attendees will tour Veolia’s PFAS treatment plant—one of the largest in the country, processing 30 million gallons daily—and visit the University of Delaware’s Center for Clean Hydrogen labs, where tomorrow’s clean energy solutions are being developed.

Why This Matters Now As our region faces unprecedented challenges—from climate variability to explosive growth in energy-intensive industries—these conversations aren’t just timely, they’re essential. Our speakers represent the intersection of science, policy, and practice that will determine how we navigate the next decade of water management.

This is where theory meets reality, where innovation meets implementation, and where the future of water in the Delaware River Basin takes shape.
