Happy Friday! Every other day this week, it has felt like summer. With the weekend here, and the weather calling us outdoors, it’s the perfect time to explore our glorious basin. The Delaware River Basin Commission put together a list if potential outdoor adventures, and we have added a few of our favorites.

Here are a few upcoming opportunities to get out in the Delaware River Basin:
- The Appalachian Mountain Club offers numerous outdoor activities in the Delaware Valley. Check out their calendar.
- The Friends of the Abbott Marshlands is holding several events next month, including nature walks, family Sundays and more! Check out the full events calendar at https://abbottmarshlands.org/events/list/.
- Starting May 1st, you can paddle the Brandywine River with Northbrook Canoe Company. For more than 45 years they have offered Canoeing, Kayaking, and Tubing Trips along the beautiful Brandywine River located in the heart of scenic Chester County Pennsylvania. Reservations are recommended, walk-ins welcome.
- OSW Partner the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership holds regular “Walk with Me” and “Move with Me” events! Visit the events calendar at https://ttfwatershed.org/events/ to get all the details!
- Washington Crossing Historic Park offers Evening Healthy Hikes and Guided Bird Walks For information on and to register for any of these events, please email Matt Truesdale at mtruesdale@pa.gov.
- Rainy day? Take in lovely views of the Brandywine River from the Brandywine Museum of Art‘s exquisitely designed museum, which is home to an unparalleled art collection dedicated to American art with a primary emphasis on the art of the Brandywine region, American illustration, still life and landscape painting, and the work of the Wyeth family.
- Trout Season is coming! The Pa. Fish and Boat Commission has updated the stocking calendar at https://fbweb.pa.gov/TroutStocking. Click on a county to find a stocking date/location near you!
- The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Transportation are updating New Jersey’s trail planning guidance. Take this survey to help shape the future of New Jersey’s trails! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/njtrails

- Please note: Pennsylvania and New York cold water life jacket rules are in effect! From Nov. 1 – April 30 in Pennsylvania and from November 1 – May 1 in New York, boaters in kayaks, canoes and small boats must wear a life jacket at all times. Although we always recommend wearing a life jacket no matter the season, colder water increases risk if you fall in. Learn more at the above links.
