The Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC) will convene the next event in its quarterly Water Sector Physical Threat Briefings series. Presenters from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and WaterISAC will discuss the increasing phenomenon of cyber-physical security convergence and the associated risks. Over the past decade, the adoption and integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices have led to an increasingly interconnected web of cyber-physical systems, which expands the attack surface and blurs the once clear functions of cybersecurity and physical security. While there are many benefits associated with cyber-physical security convergence, there are also many risks.
WaterISAC is –
The U.S. water and wastewater sector’s leading national associations and research foundations established the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC) in 2002, in coordination with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. That same year, it was authorized by Congress in the Bioterrorism Act. WaterISAC is the designated information sharing and operations arm of the Water Sector Coordinating Council.
