The longest tunnel in the world is hiding more than 600 feet underneath the Hudson Valley.  This month, it’s entering the final stage of a years-long and multi-billion dollar repair project.

The massive tunnel, which begins in the Hudson Valley and ends just north of New York City, is unique in several ways. Not only is it the longest underground path on planet earth, but it’s vital for the survival of millions of New Yorkers.

Record-Setting Tunnel in the Hudson Valley, NY

There have been countless records set in New York, from the world’s largest garden gnome to the longest line of Hokey Pokey dancers. The impressive tunnel, however, is in a league of its own. Now, engineers and construction workers have begun an unbelievable undertaking.

About the Delaware Aqueduct in the Hudson Valley

The tunnel, known as the Delaware Aqueduct, has been transporting millions of gallons of drinking water from Hudson Valley reservoirs to New York City residents for decades. When leaks were discovered underneath Wawarsing, NY and Newburgh, NY, a plan was devised for repairs.
